Each year, hundreds of firms gather financial data and conduct employee surveys for consideration in one or many of Zweig’s esteemed awards. These companies recognize that being a recipient of a Zweig award provides an invaluable advantage in marketing, recruiting, and retention. They value the candid feedback they receive from their employees through the surveys and the opportunity to boast their firm as a “Top New Venture” or “Best Firm to Work For” to clients and potential employees. Any weaknesses identified in the survey responses can be scrutinized and present an opportunity for improving the business.
The elevateHER Award was created to recognize firms that are making concerted efforts to improve representation and diversity in the AEC industry. The underrepresentation of women in the industry is apparently not uniformly understood, appreciated, or acted upon. Celebrating the efforts of firms that are intentionally addressing the issue can educate and inspire others to follow suit. Being recognized as a champion of women in the AEC industry should pay strong dividends in terms of recruiting, retention, and overall performance. This award can serve as a catalyst for long overdue changes to the entire industry.
Thesis: “Data proves that the lack of intentional diversity initiatives is negatively impacting recruiting and retention. An award program will incentivize firms to deliberately change their practices.”
